작가별 작가노트

작품명은 작품을 이해하는 단서다. 2000년부터 작품명을 neural이라 붙이고 있다. nuetral을 영문 소문자로 쓰는 것도 지키는 규칙이다. 뉴트럴성이란 중간성, 불명확성을 뜻한다. 회화와 사진, 미술과 언어, 필연성과 우연성, 다양한 개념의 중간에서 이 작품은 위치한다. 적극적으로 양극단의 여러 개념을 묻고 답하기 위해, 글쓰기를 나의 미술적 표현으로 도입하고 있다. 물감은 안료(색)와 전색제(접착제)로 만들어진다. 이 작품의 일부분에서 안료는 목탄이고 전색제는 종이테이프이다.

The title of my work is a clue to understanding it. Since 2000, the title of my work has been "neural," and it is a rule that the word must always be written in lowercase letters. Neutrality means intermediacy and unclarity. This work is positioned in between painting and photography, art and language, necessity and chance, am ong various concepts. To actively question and answer various concepts at both extremes, I make use of writing as my artistic expression. Paint is made of pigment (color) and binder (adhesive). In a part of this work, the pigment is charcoal and the binder is tape.
