암울하게 지내던 20대에 만난 "데미안"은 세상에 내딛는 나의 발걸음에 위로와 용기로 미술의 새로운 장르를 시도하기에 충분한 교훈을 주었다.
‘Harmony-떨림’
환희, 두려움, 흥분, 긴장 등이 주는 ‘떨림’은 음악과 자연의, 음악과 과학의, 음악과 나의 삶을 조화롭게 이끌어 준다.
변화무쌍한 바다를 향해 "노인과 바다"의 “산티아고”가 노를 젓듯, 나는 붓질을 하고 톱질을 하고, 피스를 박고, 색실을 바이올린에 끼우며 완성될 작업이 가까워 올수록 설레임에 떨린다.
물감을 칠하고, 벗겨내고, 나무토막을 세우고 허물고 눕히고 일으키며 새로운 미술 장르의 벽을 무너뜨려 흥미로운 작업의 또 다른 ‘떨림’을 경험한다.
그 속엔 항상 바이올린 선율이 함께하고, 바이올린은 나에게 따뜻한 위로이며, 삶이 행복한 이유이다.
최근 작업 중인 작품들은 의인화된 바이올린이 수 백 대 등장하는 “바이올린 프로젝트”이다.
부제는 “Harmony-울림”으로 작품마다 작가 나 자신을 충족시킬만한 충분한 변주를 시도했다.
회화에 오브제를 더하고, 그리고 조각과 설치미술에 이르기까지 물감은 물론이고, 돌, 나무 등의 자연물질들을 융합하여 장르를 뛰어넘는 거침없는 변화는 오랜 세월 서양고전음악에 심취된 내면의 깊은 곳에서 마그마가 용출되는 나의 자화상이다.
그래서 내 작업에 들어오는 다양한 소재와 형식과 내용은, 작가가 말하고자 하는 우주의 질서와 인류의 조화로움을 표현하고자 함이며, 모차르트, 멘델스존, 슈베르트 등의 서양 고전 음악가들과 헤르만 헤세의 “데미안“, 헤밍웨이의 ”노인과 바다“, 톨스토이의 ”전쟁과 평화“ 등의 문학이 나의 작업에 미치는 영향력 등을 통해 나의 작품세계에 대한 신념과 의지를 관철시키고 싶은 것이다.

Thinking, experiencing, and making mistakes in a variety of art genre, I make a round-trip marathon as if I were crossing a stepping stone.
"Damian" whom I met in the dark years of my twenties, allowed me to step into the world of art with consolation and courage by providing a valuable lesson of exploring a new genre of art.
'Harmony - Tremble'
The 'Tremble' of joy, fear, and excitement combines the musical nature and musical science to harmonize music with my life.
Just as Santiago in the "Old Man and the Sea" paddle towards the changeless sea, I am thrilled as the work to be completed comes closer while I brush, saw, and thread a new string on a violin.
Brushing and peeling off the paint. Erecting, knocking down, raising and laying down a wooden block.
I experience a different kind of 'tremble' while breaking down the walls of new art genre, in this interesting work.
Within everything that surrounds my art, a violin's melody is always there to bring me comfort and happiness to life.
My recent work in progress "The Violin Project" features hundreds of anthropomorphic violins.
The subtitle of the exhibition is "Harmony - Resonance" and every work tries to satisfy me with its own unique variation.
From adding objects to the painting, to forming sculptures and installation art.
In addition to regular paint, natural materials such as stones and trees are fused and unleashed onto my work.
The relentless change that goes beyond the genre, flows out like a magma from deep inside and is my self-portrait; a result of being immersed in western classical music for many years.
Consequently, the various materials, forms, and contents that come into my work are intended to express the harmony of humanity and the order of the universe.
Through the influence of western classical musicians such as Mozart, Mendelssohn and Schubert; and literature such as Hermann Hesse's "Damian", Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea", and Tolstoy's "War and Peace", as an artist I want to express and fulfill my belief and will into the world my art.
